And I'm wondering if there's a "Heir to a Greek Shipping Dynasty Ken" out there.
Welcome to My Big Fat Greek Field Trip!
Let's get it out of the way; I know, you're jealous. Yes, my camera will be exhausted with pictures of blue skies, bluer waters, and ancient centers of knowledge and prestige! Of course, I'm looking forward to meeting new, great people and sharing an amazing time with them. And, DUH! I'm beyond excited! When I entered college in the fall of 2004, studying abroad was on my Top Ten List of Things to Do Before I Graduate (right on up there with #8. Find out what an Irish Car Bomb is, which I haven't yet, and #4. Never, under any circumstance, succumb to the infamous "All Nighter" -- unless it's a Girls Night); and it hasn't hit me just yet that it's actually going to happen. But it's coming. I never really paid any attention to how a little bit of Greece is every where. I received a Magellan's catalog in the mail with a huge picture of Santorini on the front cover; Target just released a clothing line for women that was inspired by Ancient Greece and the Greek Goddesses; the MEDiet (a new fad diet based on Mediterranean cuisine) is gaining popularity; and just the other day, My Big Fat Greek Wedding was on a three night marathon. I think God's sending me a sign: a sign that I need to stuff myself with Greek food and live like the dork I am in the center of ancient philosophy and art. So here I go!
I'll be leaving this Saturday (May 26th) out of Raleigh-Durham, NC. I've gotten 99% of my home priorities taken care of, and I'm trying to get my fill of my favorite things here in the states -- for instance, margarita night, tonight! And of course, spending time with my family and friends, and my four-legged daughter, Audrey (she's my spoiled rotten, wonderful Chihuahua). My apartment's cleaner than they day I moved in (okay, it wasn't that immaculate to begin with), and my toiletries are safely put into 3oz. or less bottles so the airports know I'm not a terrorist -- which, by the way, travel-size stuff is anything but cost efficient. But I think I'm good to go, except for that obnoxious feeling of forgetting something! I've got a few days to come up with it....
Oops. The writer's block is kicking in! Or maybe it's my blood sugar dropping at questionable rate. Either way, it's a good stopping point, and I hope you all join my blog and hope to hear from all of you!
